Beef King Patrick Beverley booted LeBron James and the Lakers out of the playoff race

Beverley had the most fun ever sending James and the Lakers packing.

Patrick Beverley is the NBA’s peskiest, pettiest, polarizing defensive guard who wakes up in the morning to ruin the day of someone in the league. The 6’1 Clipper is afraid of nobody, including defending 6’8 LeBron James. This is his reputation, after all.

He’s mimicked Russell Westbrooks rock-the-baby taunt:

And stolen Anthony Davis’s shoe:

Those two events are from this season alone. His past has many, many, many more examples.

Like the time he challenged Jemele Hill and Michael Smith:

The time he tried to pick a fight with Joel Embiid:

Heck, there’s an entire eight-minute montage of his fights on YouTube:

On Monday, Beverley took full advantage of the opportunity to all-but-mathematically knock James and the Lakers out of the playoff picture. He had stated in August the Clippers were LA’s best team, and he wasn’t wrong after his team won, 113-105, in a game that basically ended the Lakers’ playoff hopes.

The game started with Beverley picking off the tip-off and scoring

JaVale McGee won control of the tip and Beverley ate the pass and scored in the opening seconds anyway. He asserted his place in this game from the literal beginning.

He bothered James ALL game

Beverley sought blood and went right for the heart of the team. James had to earn his 27 points, and nothing came easy with the Bev at his side for every moment.

Beverley soaked up the Staples Center’s boos

Peak petty Pat.

Beverley was HYPE after the win.

“Hell yeah!”

“Hell yeah!”

Beverley compared the billion dollar Clippers to a blue-collar family

He means that the Clippers pale in comparison to the Lakers’ popularity and profit margins, but it’s still hilarious.

Beverley: That’s who we do it for. The people in the back... The blue-collar people who don’t have a lot given to them. Who work for everything they deserve. And that’s what we’re doing right now. We do it for them.”

Beverley really said “Men Lie. Women Lie. Numbers don’t”

In all-time Beverley fashion, he went on about how he said the Clippers were better than the Lakers all along, how few media showed up to their preseason event, and how numbers never lie.

Beverley: I remember it like it was yesterday. I told Shai, ‘Look at the room. There’s seven media here. Watch at the end of the year.’ Like I said about us being the best team in LA. A lot of people don’t believe me. That’s fine. Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don’t.

It’s simply poetic that the Lakers’ most depressing, soul-crushing loss that essentially ended their season came at the hands of Beverley. This is what he does.
