Miles Bridges denied entry to Canada for Hornets-Raptors game

Miles Bridges has been denied entry to Canada as the Charlotte Hornets face the Toronto Raptors on the road on Monday night. Bridges cannot enter the country because of his ongoing legal problems stemming from domestic violence charges against the mother of his two children brought in 2022.

Bridges was charged one felony count of causing harm to a parent of a child, and two felony counts of child abuse. Bridges avoided jail time, but was sentenced to three years of probation and a 10-year criminal protection order for the mother of his children. He violated the protected order against the woman, and was served with a criminal summons in Oct. of this year.

Bridges missed all of the 2022-2023 season, but has been back with the Hornets this season after serving a 10-game suspension to start the year. The Hornets are preparing to play the Raptors without Bridges.

Bridges turned himself in to police on Oct. 13 after a warrant was issued for violation of the protective order. The summons featured the following allegations, via ESPN:

Bridges is accused of throwing billiard balls at her vehicle while the children were inside it, smashing the windshield and leaving dents in the car, according to the summons. He is also accused in the summons of threatening her that if she “told the police he would take everything from her and withhold child support” and that he “allowed his current girlfriend to yell, scream and kick the victim’s car while the children were inside it.” The summons does not say if the woman was in the car.

The Hornets have come under fire for their decision to re-sign Bridges and play him this season. It’s another lost year for Charlotte on the court, and the Bridges saga continues to be a headache off of it.
