Isaiah Stewart is the NBA’s most unhinged player, and his latest ejection is more proof

Isaiah Stewart is the most unhinged player in the NBA. The Detroit Pistons big man famously tried to fight LeBron James on the court back in 2021, and then got arrested following a parking lot scuffle with Phoenix Suns big man Drew Eubanks last year.

You never know what “Beef Stew” is going to do next. As the Pistons faced their division rival Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night, Stewart again drew attention for his antics leading to a second quarter ejection.

Stewart turned and charged at Pacers big man Thomas Bryant after a shot went up, knocking him over. That’s a creative way to box out for a rebound, but the refs weren’t going to allow it. Stewart was given a flagrant-2 foul, which results in an automatic ejection. The refs said the play involved “windup, impact, and follow through.”

Update: Stewart has been suspended for one game by the NBA. Watch Stewart get ejected here:

“The play is non-basketball,” the officiating crew stated when explaining his ejection. “It is unnecessary and excessive”

That’s about as clear as it gets.

Stewart was playing with emotion all game before the ejection. Who else is giving you this type of reaction during a game?

Stewart’s reaction on the Detroit bench as the ejection was being announced also went viral. Here’s the clip:

This was Stewart’s second ejection of the year. He’s one of only five players in the league to be ejected multiple times this season.

There’s some history between the Pacers and Pistons — and no, we aren’t talking about the Malice in the Palace.

When Detroit and Indiana played earlier this month, Stewart yelled “you play with LEGOs!” to Indiana center Myles Turner. Turner had his response ready to go after the Pacers’ win on Wednesday night.

That is, by the way, a 100,000 piece LEGO creation Turner built of himself as Darth Vader. How can you not love the NBA?

Stewart and the Pistons seem destined for the NBA Playoffs this season for the first time since Detroit drafted him. With more eyes on the Pistons, Stewart’s aggressive antics will continue to be under the spotlight.
