Cason Wallace was named on our list of NBA breakout players for the 2025-26 season on Thursday. He responded by hitting one of the greatest circus shots in league history, albeit in a preseason game, later than night.

The NBA preseason is too long, but the Oklahoma City Thunder’s matchup with the Charlotte Hornets provided some magic when Wallace chased down an offensive rebound early in the third quarter. With the shot clock expiring, Wallace flipped the ball over his head and over the backboard. Somehow, it dropped in. Watch the play here:

Wallace doesn’t even shoot the ball here as much as he just volleys it toward the basket. NBA players are absurdly good, but even they can’t hit a shot like this. This shot is impossible.

Wallace is already a key cog in the league’s best defense, and it sure seems like he’s got some untapped offensive too as he enters this third season. The Thunder are loaded, and a standout young player like Wallace is just one of the guys.
