Kentucky Vs. Oklahoma: Wildcats Holding On To Lead

With 3:10 remaining in the game, the Wildcats lead 68-57. Once again, I know I sound like a broken record but Terrence Jones is living up to the hype surrounding him. He has 26 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block on the afternoon.

The kid has owned this game.

Kentucky Vs. Oklahoma: Sooners Close Gap

Annnnd just as I say Kentucky is pulling away, the Sooners close the gap. At the under 8 minute timeout, the Wildcats lead 61-50.

Kentucky is dominating on the boards in this one, with a 27-19 advantage. But the Wildcats are just 2-of-8 at the free throw line, and haven’t taken advantage of Oklahoma’s mistakes consistently.

Kentucky Vs. Oklahoma: Wildcats Pulling Away

The Wildcats look to have finally started to carve out some more distance between themselves and the Sooners, as they lead 59-41 with 11:53 left in the game.

All of Oklahoma’s shots are coming from outside the paint. Kentucky is just too strong and their length is too much for the Sooners to handle inside.

Kentucky Vs. Oklahoma: Wilcats Lead By 13 At Under 16 Timeout

Oklahoma is continuing to hang around in this one. The Sooners are just out of reach of calling this a competitive game but they haven’t rolled over.

The guy who has impressed me the most in this game is Kentucky’s Terrence Jones. The 6’8 freshman forward has 17 points and 8 rebounds with 15:52 left in the game. He’s bouncy, athletic, strong and has a sweet left-handed stroke.

Kentucky Vs. Oklahoma: A Quick Assessment Of Brandon Knight

He’s quick, looks to play tough defense and can go slow or fast when running the team, depending on the situation. But he is in no way a finished product. He needs to put on some muscle and work on his outside shot. He’s a good shooter, he’s just not great yet.

I don’t see him leaving after this year unless he improves dramatically. Another year would help him develop nicely.

Kentucky Vs. Oklahoma: Wildcats Lead By 14 At The Half

Man, Kentucky is talented. I know we say that about every one of John Calipari’s teams but geez. Seeing it in person puts a whole new perspective on the kind of players the guy can assemble on one roster.

The Wildcats are fast, they’ve shot the ball well (56.3 percent from the field), and they’ve hit the boards (19-10 rebounding advantage). Hilariously though, they’re 0-for-5 from the free throw line. Will Calipari ever have a team that hits its free throws?

Kentucky Vs. Oklahoma: Game Two From Maui

Well, it will certainly be difficult to follow up that great opening game between UConn and Wichita State, but these two teams will certainly try.

So lets see what Calipari has put together for us this year, and what Caple can do to answer it.
