Well, it wasn’t as easy as it appeared it would be, but the Kentucky Wildcats did what they had to and came away with a 76-64 win against an Oklahoma team that just wouldn’t give up.
Kentucky Vs. Oklahoma: Wildcats Close Out Win
Kentucky was led by sensational freshman Terrence Jones, whose 29 points and 12 rebounds led all players. Fellow freshmen Brandon Knight (13 points) and Doron Lamb (12 points) both made big contributions. Junior DeAndre Liggins also pitched in with 12 points before leaving the floor late in the game with an apparent shoulder injury.
To their credit, Oklahoma didn’t allow this to become a blowout. The Sooners kept pushing and hit some big shots down the stretch. They even cut the lead to 6 points with under two minutes left, before a breakaway dunk by Jones cut the comeback short.
Senior guard Cade Davis led the Sooners with 23 points and added 6 rebounds, while sophomore Andrew Fitzgerald added 14 points and 5 boards.
Kentucky will now move on to face the winner of the Washington-Virginia game.
