A big issue for Kentucky has been free throw shooting. In a performance typical of John Calipari-coached teams, the Wildcats were just 6-of-13 from the charity stripe in the first half.
Darnell Gant led the Huskies in their comeback. He finished the half with 10 points. But Washington’s most impressive player in the opening half was Aziz N’Diaye, who had 3 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. He owned the paint for the last 10 minutes of the half.
A game that started very fast slowed down considerably over the last 5 minutes. Expect the pace to pick up as the second half opens.
