Frank Martin seems like a mild-mannered head coach. Never would I expect the even-keeled Martin to go on a tirade after his Kansas State Wildcats were upset for the second time in as many games. And the suspensions of Jacob Pullen and Curtis Kelly that came down just hours before Tuesday’s game? Nope, wouldn’t even phase him.
VIDEO: Frank Martin Unleashes Press Conference Tirade After Loss To UNLV
Throwing a microphone in front of Martin while reporters peppered him with questions after the Wildcats loss to UNLV on Tuesday night may have been bad for his sanity, but it was great for our entertainment.
Martin went from tame -- “We’re not about losing, we’re not about playing hard, coming up close and moral victories” -- to defiant, ripping into reporters and telling them he’d only talk about players who suited up. Clearly tired of answering questions about Pullen and Kelly, Martin was at his wits end.
And the gem of the press conference? That came when Martin was asked about starting guard Rodney McGruder losing a tooth. Martin responded with an anecdote, saying "I broke my nose three times. It's part of playing sports."
