Georgetown Vs. Memphis: Hoyas Win On The Road, Beat Tigers 86-69

Memphis came out flat in the second half, and couldn’t seem to get their shots to fall. They finished with 14 turnovers, and shot only 38% for the game. The Hoyas were able to score more in the paint in the second half (30) than the Tigers scored total in the entire second half. The starters for Georgetown scored almost twice as many points as the starters for Memphis.

Georgetown led by as many as 21 points with under a minute left in the game. They moved their game inside the paint for the second half, scoring on backdoor cuts at will. That is interesting to note, especially since the Hoyas are known as an outside-shooting team. The crowd was effectively taken out of the game, and the Tigers were left to claw their way back in on their own.

In the end, it was Georgetown's versatility that gave them the edge over the Tigers. Their guard, Austin Freeman, shot a near-perfect game, and scored from every spot on the floor. Both teams had three players in double digits, including a game-high 24 from Freeman who shot 9 of 12. The Hoyas' rebounding caught up to the Tigers, with both teams finishing at 31 total.
