The Only Colors, our Michigan St. Spartans community, thinks Sparty has a good chance against the Syracuse Orange, citing the entire week Tom Izzo has had to game-plan for Syracuse’s 2-3 zone defense. A lot will ride on whether senior guard Durrell Summers’ shot is falling from outside.
Jimmy V Classic, Michigan State Vs. Syracuse: Can Spartans Hang Onto The Ball Against Jim Boeheim’s Zone?
Not blown away by Cuse’s performance thus far, TOC points out the Orange have won most of their games by curiously slim margins. The Spartans have put away inferior competition pretty reliably, with their only losses coming to the defending champ Duke Blue Devils and red-hot Connecticut Huskies.
Syracuse community Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician counters — well, sort of — by pointing out Michigan State turns the ball over a lot, though Cuse will need consistency on offense to take advantage. Junior forward Kris Joseph has been perhaps the most streaky of the Orange’s scorers.
The Nunes bros think the pressure is on Syracuse here, as they’ll be playing in their home state and have yet to put together a truly convincing win.
