No.1 Duke Loses For First Time In Ten Months, 66-61 To Florida State

Head on over to our Florida State blog Tomahawk Nation to join the celebration.

It took more than 10 months, but No. 1 Duke has lost a college basketball game.

Florida State used a suffocating defense and made big shots down the stretch to pull out a 66-61 victory over the top-ranked Blue Devils, who had won 25 consecutive games. FSU controlled most of the second half and held on late despite a strong comeback attempt by the Devils.

Duke (15-1, 2-1 ACC) had not lost since a 79-72 setback at Maryland on March 3 of last year, but shot 31 percent Wednesday to fall from the ranks of the unbeaten.

Derwin Kitchen scored 22 points while Chris Singleton had 18 for Florida State (12-5, 2-1).
