The second half of tonight’s Big Monday showdown between the Pittsburgh Panthers and Syracuse Orange settled down somewhat. The first half was a difficult-to-watch series of scoring streaks, while the second half looked a lot like basketball. It’s looking a lot like Syracuse is going to struggle in Kris Joseph’s absence, too.
Syracuse Vs. Pitt Final Score: Panthers 74, Orange 66, Giving Cuse Its First Loss
The Panthers were up 67-57 with four minutes to go, and stayed pretty much that way until the final minute, until madness struck again. The Pitt crowd was steady hoppin’ all night long, as Nasir Robinson poured in 21 points and the Panthers outrebounded Cuse 35 to 20.
The Orange are no longer undefeated, falling to 18-1 and 5-1 in the Big East. Pitt rises to meet them with the same record overall and a 6-0 mark in conference for the first time ever. Cuse gets Villanova next, and Pitt gets DePaul.
