Florida State fell to Harvard on Friday evening in the Bahamas at the Battle 4 Atlantis. Yes, it was an upset, but that’s probably not the story here. From the beginning, it was clear something was very wrong in this game.
Florida State Vs. Harvard Final Score: Crimson Win After Horrific First Half
Harvard upset Florida State in a matchup that featured little scoring in the first half and some scary stats.
After 12 minutes of play, Harvard led FSU 8-4, with the two teams combining for three field goals. This is not a misprint or a joke. One point a minute and just three field goals. By halftime, the average was just over a point a minute: FSU and Harvard were tied at 14 and had combined to shoot 8-47. It looked like we were headed for some kind of history, and not the good kind.
Alas, the Seminoles and Crimson turned it on in the second half, somehow figuring out how to put the ball into the basket during the break. Harvard was able to upset the No. 20 Seminoles, 46-41, after scoring 32 points in the half -- or more than the two teams combined for in the first 20 minutes.
Oddly enough, the loser’s bracket of the Battle 4 Atlantis gets interesting now. On the winner’s side, Harvard and UCF will face off. On the loser’s side, though, UConn and Florida State, both of whom were upset, will take the court in what should be a solid matchup. It’s probably the matchup organizers hoped they’d get, just not in this way.
