Baylor Vs. Mississippi State Final Score: Bears Hang On For Big Win, 54-52

Pierre Jackson drained the go-ahead bucket with under 30 seconds to go as Baylor hung on for a 54-52 win.

No. 7 Baylor and No. 14 Mississippi State took the court in the marquee matchup of the evening, capping a double-header in Dallas. The matchup looked strong on paper and didn’t disappoint, with the Bears and Bulldogs playing back-and-forth basketball throughout in a game that came down to each team’s final possession.

With the score tied at 52, Pierre Jackson blew by Dee Bost with a crossover, streaking to the hoop for the go-ahead lay-in with just under 30 seconds to go. Mississippi State had the last shot, but was never able to find a good look as Baylor pressured with tenacity throughout the final possession. Quincy Acy reached high to block Rodney Hood, tapping the ball out towards the Baylor basket, and into the hands of A.J. Walton, as time expired.

Baylor hung on for the 54-52 win, picking up a strong resume-builder in the process. The win keeps Baylor undefeated on the season, and at 13-0 for the first time in school history. Mississippi State fell to 12-2 with the loss.
