UConn Basketball Welcomes Back The Kemba Walker Show

Here's how the stat-book shows that UConn's Kemba Walker had a great game in the Huskies' 78-70 win over Georgetown Wednesday night: 31 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds, 1 eye-popping self-pass off the backboard for a layup. 13-23 from the field, 12-18 from inside the 3-point line. Two backbreaking buckets to turn a 70-69 deficit into a 73-70 lead with just over a minute to play.

Here’s how UConn fans show that Kemba Walker had a great game:

KEMBA KEMBA YEAH YEAH OH YEAH

It was “vintage” Kemba Walker in the win since it was the kind of performance UConn hadn’t seen in some time. In fact, the entire team had the fanbase concerned that their hot start was a fake-out. Turns out, that’s not the case:

An extremely young team withstood some early punches, and then rode their rejuvenated star to a lead in front of their home crowd. They locked down a very good offensive team and scored the game’s final nine points. They closed out the hottest team in the Big East, one that will probably be playing deep into March.

As for Hoya fans, they watched their team’s eight-game winning streak get snapped. Despite the loss, Georgetown fans are maintaining perspective about their team:

Though Austin Freeman suffered an off night, he, Wright, Jason Clark, and Hollis Thompson were in double figures and Vaughn continued to show flashes of being a highly effective post scorer. More than half the Georgetown baskets came on assists and this game highlighted the teamwork that established the streak.
