Louisville vs. UConn: Cardinals Win In Spite Of Shooters’ Off-Night

Louisville handily defeated UConn 71-58 on Friday night, an impressive feat. It’s made all the more impressive by the fact that most of the Cardinal’s top shooters had a rough evening.

Preston Knowles had an awful night from the field, making only 2 of 13 field goals.

Kyle Kuric also struggled to find his shot in the first half, scoring six points total.

Gorgui Dieng, a freshman, pulled down six offensive rebounds and picked & rolled his way to a double-double against a stronger, more experienced Connecticut front court to score 13 points in a surprise performance.

Also, Kuric and Knowles were able to make some key plays in the 2nd half to make up for their poor early showings. Combine all of that with Peyton Siva’s strong game and the Cardinals were able to scrap together a big win in conference play.
