Louisville’s 62-59 win over Pitt on Sunday was bittersweet as Rick Pitino told ESPN.com that Cardinal sophomore forward Rakeem Buckles will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the ACL in his right knee.

Buckles injured the knee in the first half of the game Sunday. Pitino initially reported it as a sprain but a further evaluation proved the real extent of the injury. Buckles missed 13 games previously due to a finger injury.
“I’m really, really disappointed for Rak,” Pitino said. “He waited patiently to come back, and now he gets hurt again. I feel absolutely awful for him and the team.
“But we’ve battled adversity all season and we’ll continue to do so, and we won’t let it bother us.”
