Georgia Tech Basketball Hires Brian Gregory From Dayton As Next Head Coach

Dayton’s Brian Gregory will be named the next head coach of Georgia Tech basketball on Monday, according to a report in the Dayton Daily News. Gregory, 44, will replace Paul Hewitt, who was fired by the Yellow Jackets following a disappointing 13-18 season.

Gregory has built a winning program during his eight seasons at Dayton, leading its basketball program to a 172-94 record during his tenure with the Flyers, including five postseason berths. Gregory led Dayton to the NCAA Tournament twice and the NIT Tournament three times. The Flyers won the NIT title two seasons ago. Gregory does have power conference experience -- before becoming Dayton’s head coach, he was an assistant coach for Tom Izzo at Michigan State for five seasons.
