Brian Gregory has finally been announced as the new basketball coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, only an entire working-person’s shift after the University of Dayton announced the move via Twitter and three days after Jeff Goodman first reported it.
Brian Gregory Announced As Georgia Tech Basketball Head Coach
Gregory is expected to be formally introduced at a 5 pm ET Monday press conference, where he’ll likely be asked about the prospect of playing a season’s worth of home games away from campus, the possibility of bringing on alum Mark Price as an assistant, and restoring the excitement to Tech hoops after the slow drain of Paul Hewitt’s latter years.
Tech athletic director Dan Radakovich commented on the hire:
“Brian Gregory is not only an outstanding basketball coach, but he is a tireless worker and recruiter who cares deeply about his players,” Radakovich said. “There is no question that he will succeed as basketball coach at Georgia Tech, and he will win by doing things the right way.”
A Tom Izzo disciple, Gregory found success at Dayton, bringing the program to its highest AP ranking in decades and a NIT title.
