NIT Bracket 2011 Update: Washington State Moves To Quarterfinals After Beating Oklahoma State

Second-seeded Washington State is the final team rounding out the 2011 NIT bracket’s quarterfinals after cruising past No. 3 Oklahoma State on Monday night, 74-64, in the second round of college basketball’s other tournament.

The Cougars were led by NBA prospect Klay Thompson, as the junior guard notched a game-high 21 points. Australian forward Brock Motum also added 17 points of his own.

Washington State opened with a hot start from the field, taking an early 9-0 lead thanks to cold shooting from the Cowboys. Oklahoma State struggled from behind the three-point line the entire game, finishing just 4-for-19 on the night.

Washington State now advances to face Northwestern in the quarterfinals of the NIT on Thursday. Northwestern is coming off an 18-point win against Boston College on Saturday.
