North Carolina’s Roy Williams started his seniors for tonight’s Senior Night festivities in Chapel Hill against Duke. That might only have slowed his Tar Heels’ roll; they’re looking fairly unstoppable at halftime, with the score 51-39 in the boys in light blue’s favor.
Duke Vs. UNC Halftime Score: Tar Heels Up Big, 51-39
The Tar Heels have gotten offensive production from all corners, but it’s Kendall Marshall that has the machine running smoothly. He has 12 points and five assists, and has helped Carolina shoot a sizzling 57.9% from the field in the first half.
Carolina’s offensive success is unprecedented for a Duke opponent this season: the 51 points is a season high for any Blue Devils foe in a half.
Duke’s got some issues on defense, but they might also need a little more offense. Guards Nolan Smith and Seth Curry have combined for 26 points, but starting frontcourt players Ryan Kelly and Mason Plumlee have been held scoreless.
If Marshall can keep the Tar Heels humming and prevent Curry or Smith from shooting the Blue Devils back into this one, it seems likely that Carolina will win the ACC regular season championship that’s up for grabs tonight.
