Jimmer Fredette Named AP Player Of The Year, Mike Brey Earns Coaching Honor
In the same voting, the AP selected Notre Dame’s Mike Brey as the 2011 coach of the year.
Brey led the Fighting Irish to a 27-7 overall record, a second-place finish in the Big East and a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. He becomes the first coach from Notre Dame to win the award after earning 28 of the 65 votes. San Diego State’s Jeff Fisher was second with 14 votes.
