Perry Jones III Announces Baylor Basketball Return At Monday Press Conference

The 2011 NBA Draft’s most surprising abstainer made it official at a press conference on Monday: Perry Jones will return to play for the Baylor Bears next year. So why is he sticking around, besides the looming NBA lockout possibility that’s got to be in every potential draftee’s mind? Well, he says he just likes college:

The whole college experience with my teammates. That was a big part of this decision. Having fun with them. Just enjoying everything, just enjoying life with them. I do not want to cut that short and just leave out of nowhere. I want to have another good time like I did this year.

Head coach Scott Drew commented on Jones’ physique, an area in which the rising sophomore can improve before turning pro:

Players that are 6'10" or 7', their best basketball is when they are 32 or 34 down the road. Perry is going to continue to get better and better. He might retire a little quicker than that, but again his best basketball is always going to be ahead of him.
