Spurned by Harvard’s Tommy Amaker, Miami has quickly fixed its sights on another coach from a smaller conference, according to ESPN’s Andy Katz: Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Rob Jeter.
Reports: Miami Talking To Rob Jeter About Head Coaching Job
Jeter led Milwaukee to a three-way tie for the Horizon League title with Butler and Valparaiso. Milwaukee beat Butler twice in the regular season but lost to the Bulldogs in the Horizon tournament title game at home for the league’s automatic berth. …
He coached the Panthers to the NCAA tournament in his first season in the job.
Adding to the smoke, The Miami Herald is reporting the same thing.
Katz’s sources also have the Hurricanes not yet talking to Kansas State coach Frank Martin, who has pretty much advertised his interest in the job.
Less than a month ago, Jeter backed out of consideration for the head coaching job at Bradley. He said all the right things about staying at Wisconsin-Milwaukee then. But taking over at Miami, an ACC school, is a slightly different kettle of fish.
