Allan Chaney transferred to the Virginia Tech basketball team after playing his freshman year at Florida in 2008-09. Injuries and a suspension played a large part in the move. But Chaney has yet to play a game for the Hokies and is unlikely to ever do so. He was denied medical clearance by the Virginia Tech Sports Medicine Department due to a rare heart condition.
Allan Chaney Kept Off Virginia Tech Basketball Due To Heart Condition
Virginia Tech forward Allan Chaney was denied medical clearance for the upcoming season due to myocarditis.

Chaney sat out one year under NCAA rules to complete his transfer, but in April 2010 he passed out during practice due to his myocarditis. According to the Mayo Clinic, myocarditis is a condition that affects a portion of the heart and can result in blood clots, possibly leading to a stroke or heart attack.
While Chaney has undergone a battery of tests, the school’s medical staff believes the best way to ensure the safety of Chaney is to not play basketball. They will continue to support him as he continues deal with his medical condition.
