No. 13 Michigan vs. Northwestern Recap: Wolverines Escape With 66-64 Overtime Victory

The Michigan Wolverines fought back from a seven-point halftime deficit to force overtime and pick up the 66-64 victory.

The Michigan Wolverines survived a scare against the Northwestern Wildcats on Wednesday at home in the Crisler Center, picking up the 66-64 overtime victory. The Wolverines held a 66-63 lead with one second left in the game when Alex Marcotullio had a chance at three free throws following a foul on a three-point attempt. He missed the first, made the second and missed the third before coming down with the rebound to end the game.

Tim Hardaway Jr. and Trey Burke led the Wolverines with 19 points each while the latter pulled down seven rebounds and dished the ball out for seven assists. Both guards played all 45 minutes of the game. As a team, Michigan hit just one-third of its shots (22-of-66).

For Northwestern, John Shurna score 21 points and grabbed six rebounds, the latter putting him in a three-way tie for first on the boards. Drew Crawford put 20 on the board while playing 44 minutes. No other Wildcat player score in double-digits.

Michigan has an interlude with the Iowa Hawkeyes over the weekend before facing the Michigan St. Spartans next Tuesday.
