Sophomore guard Sean Kilpatrick had a team-high 16 points and senior forward Yancy Gates had 13 points and 12 rebounds as the Cincinnati Bearcats downed the Connecticut Huskies 70-67 at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut on Wednesday night.

The Cincinnati Bearcats downed the No. 13 Connecticut Huskies 70-67 at Gampel Pavilion on Wednesday night.
Kilpatrick’s three-pointer with 2.5 seconds remaining were the deciding points after the Huskies battled back from an eight-point halftime deficit. The Huskies had put together a 15-2 run to briefly take the lead before the Bearcats stormed back to take another eight-point lead with 2:53 to play.
Struggles at the free throw line kept the Huskies in it, and sophomore guard Shabazz Napier's three-pointer tied the score at 67 with 8.9 seconds remaining. Napier led all scorers with 27 points on 10-of-19 shooting, including three-of-eight from beyond the arc.
The Bearcats have now won 10 of their last 11 games to improve to 15-4 and at 5-1 are second in the Big East. Cincinnati travels to West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday afternoon. The loss was the Huskies' fourth overall and third in the Big East. Connecticut has a non-conference road against the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday.
