No. 16 San Diego State vs. New Mexico: Aztecs Win 9th Straight With 75-70 Victory Over Lobos

The No. 16 San Diego State Aztecs ended the New Mexico Lobos’ 13-game winning streak on Wednesday night.

The New Mexico Lobos keep nipping at the back end of the Top 25 polls each week, but they have yet to crack either of them. Wednesday night's 75-70 loss to the San Diego St. Aztecs, 75-70, won't help matters, as it ended a 13-game winning streak. The Lobos are now 1-1 in Mountain West play while the Aztecs improved to 2-0.

Xavier Thomas led the Aztecs with 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-5 on three-pointers. Jamaal Franklin and Chase Tapley each followed with 12 points. Tapley added seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks to his stats line.

New Mexico was hurt by poor shooting, making just 39.1 of its shots. Phillip McDonald led the scoring with 20 points while Kendall Williams and Drew Gordon added 16 and 15 points, respectively. Gordon pulled down eight boards and dished the ball out for five assists.

The 15-3 Lobos face the No. 14 UNLV Rebels on the road this Saturday, The 16-2 Aztecs return home to host the Air Force
