Creighton's Bluejays have made hay in the 2011-12 college basketball season by riding sensational sophomore Doug McDermott, but they essentially didn't need him on Saturday against Indiana State: the Bluejays got just 12 points from McDermott, but still thumped the Sycamores, 75-49.
No. 19 Creighton Vs. Indiana State: Bluejays Roll, 75-49
Doug McDermott didn’t need to do much for Creighton against Indiana State on Saturday.
McDermott, who added 11 rebounds, averages nearly 24 points per game, but didn't need to score for Creighton on this day: though he was the only Bluejay in double figures, he was one of 13 who scored — only Derek Sebastian, who recorded a single foul and no other stats in two minutes of action, saw the floor for Creighton and failed to net at least two points.
Indiana State had just one player in double figures, too, with Dwayne Lathan scoring 15 points for the Sycamores and no other player topping seven. But the Sycamores also shot just 32.7 percent from the floor, and never led.
