No. 21 Marquette Vs. Providence: Golden Eagles Get 79-72 Victory

Marquette used hot shooting and ball movement to down Providence.

No. 21 Marquette used hot shooting and judicious decision-making from its guards to defeat Providence, 79-72, on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles got 18 points from Jae Crowder and Darius Johnson-Odom in the victory, and Junior Cadougan added 10 assists. Marquette had 21 assists on 29 field goals in the game, and shot 53.7% from the field. The Golden Eagles also made nine of their 11 threes.

Marquette also held Providence to 36.3% shooting in the game. Bryce Cotton led all scorers with 26 points, including 15 in the second half, but made just eight of his 17 shots. Providence's bench contributed just seven points to its efforts, and Cotton, LaDontae Henton, and Vincent Council had 51 of the Friars' 72 points.

Providence led 40-39 at halftime, and led 46-43 early in the second period, but did not lead after the 12:26 mark of the second half.
