No. 16 San Diego State vs. Air Force Final Score: Aztecs Win, 57-44, At Home

The San Diego Aztecs defeated the Air Force Falcons, 57-44, on Saturday night. Michael Lyons, the Falcons’ leading scorer on the season, was held to just four points on 1-for-11 shooting.

The San Diego State Aztecs held the Air Force Falcons to just 34.7 percent shooting from the field Saturday night to walk away with a 57-44 win at home. Chase Tapley led the way with 16 points for the Aztecs. Jamaal Franklin pitched in 14 points as well as 10 rebounds on the night.

The Aztecs went just 4-for-16 from 3-point range but the Falcons were worse, going 1-for-18 on the night. San Diego State also held a 31 to 23 rebound advantage. Air Force was held without a field goal for 4:12 in the second half, allowing the Aztecs to expand their lead to an insurmountable 13 points late in the game.

Michael Lyons in particular had an off night. The junior guard was leading the Falcons with 15.6 points per game heading in to Saturday. He was held to just four on Saturday, going 1-for-11 from the field. Center Taylor Broekhuis had to pick up the slack, scoring 16 and adding seven rebounds. Ultimately it wasn't enough to keep Air Force from slipping to 11-5 on the season, however.
