The No. 24 Connecticut Huskies got the best possible news from the NCAA Saturday regarding freshman point guard Ryan Boatright's eligibility. He had been suspended indefinitely while under investigation, after having already been suspended six games to start the season, but the NCAA has declared him eligible, effective immediately.
Ryan Boatright Cleared By NCAA, Eligible To Play Immediately
Freshman point guard Ryan Boatright has been declared eligible, effective immediately, for the No. 24 UConn Huskies
The Huskies have lost two in a row, to Tennessee and Cincinnati, without Boatright, showing he’s clearly a key cog in their bid to repeat as national and Big East champions. He’s only 6 feet tall, but he’s insanely athletic and he’s a great ballhandler, something UConn has sorely lacked in his absence. He’s averaging 10.2 points and 3.5 assists on the season, and is shooting 47.1 percent from the three-point line.
