The No. 20 Marquette Golden Eagles came within a couple of minutes of upsetting the No. 9 Georgetown Hoyas, but a 17-point lead turned into a 73-70 loss. Hollis Thompson hit the game-winning three-pointer with 22 seconds left in the game.

The Georgetown Hoyas avoided an upset loss to the Marquette Golden Eagle by battling back from a deficit that reached as many as 17 points and pulling out the 73-70 victory.


Thompson scored eight of the teams final 12 points after the team was down, 66-61, with about 3:30 left in the game. Thompson was Georgetown's second-leading scorer with 16 points. Jason Clark added a game-high 26 points on 9-of-14 shooting and 6-of-13 made at the line.
The Hoyas used excellent shooting from the field to make the comeback, finishing with 62.8 percent of shots made. Marquette sank just 43.4 percent of shots Jae Crowder led the team with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists. Darius Johnson-Odom and Todd Mayo added 18 and 16 points, respectively.
