University of Miami starting center Reggie Johnson has been ruled ineligible by the NCAA after his family was found to have accepted what the university called “impermissible travel benefits.” Johnson denied knowledge of the benefits, but he will still have to sit out Sunday night’s game against the Florida State Seminoles, according to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press in Miami.

Johnson’s absence could be a major blow for the Hurricanes. He leads the team with 6.9 rebounds per game in addition to 10.6 points.
