Missouri Valley Tournament 2012 Bracket And Schedule Day 1

‘Arch Madness’ is descending upon Missouri for the 2012 Missouri Valley Tournament, to be played starting Thursday at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

The Missouri Valley’s auto-bid into the NCAA Tournament is on the line this week as the conference tournament begins in St. Louis. All 10 MVC teams will be in action, battling for a trip the Big Dance and official conference supremacy. It all gets underway on Thursday with the opening round of the tournament.

The seeding in the 2012 MVC Tournament is clear-cut at the top and bottom, and a gigantic mess everywhere in between. Wichita State, at 26-4 overall and 16-2 in conference, locked up the top seed over Creighton, who finished two games behind at 14-4 in conference. Then things get a little wacky.

Five teams finished the conference slate at 9-9, creating a mess of tiebreakers to sort out the seeding. Evansville won the tiebreakers, which may have included a coin flip and relay race, to take the No. 3 seed. Illinois State lost the hop scotch tiebreaker, but still managed to take the No. 4 seed into the tournament. Northern Iowa and Missouri State were the fifth- and sixth-seed, respectively.

The remaining four teams will battle it out in play-in games on Thursday. The schedule and other information can be found below.

Day 1 Schedule

8:35 p.m. - No. 7 Drake Bulldogs vs. Bradley Braves
