The Florida Gators are one of the best three-point shooting teams in the nation, and for them to break the Kentucky Wildcats' home winning streak, everyone knew they were going to have to hit a high volume of three-pointers. They shot 25 percent from behind the arc on Tuesday, which wasn't nearly good enough to challenge an absolutely dominant Kentucky team. Terrence Jones scored just four points, but his team didn't even need him in a 78-58 victory.
No. 1 Kentucky Vs. No. 8 Florida: Wildcats Cruise To Dominant Home Win
Kentucky was dominant at home on Tuesday, defeating Florida by 20 points on the back of a great defensive performance and a balanced offensive game.
Micheel Kidd-Gilchrist had a massive night with 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Anthony Davis was dominant on both ends of the floor as well. Davis notched 16 points and was below has rebounding and blocked shots averages with six and four respectably, but those numbers don’t tell the story of what he did. Davis was a dominant presence in the paint, constantly altering shots, and also had two steals. Kentucky’s perimeter defense was also fantastic, contesting every Florida three-point shot.
Doron Lamb led the Wildcats in scoring with 18 points, while Marquis Teague contributed 12 points and 10 assists. Kenny Boynton did well for the Gators with 18 points and 4-8 shooting behind the arc, but his teammates struggled on the offensive end.
