NIT Tournament 2012, Dayton Vs. Iowa: Hawkeyes Down Dayton, 84-75

The Iowa Hawkeyes defeated the Dayton Flyers, 84-75, behind Aaron White's 25 points and 11 rebounds and Zach McCabe's 20 points and eight rebounds. McCabe was nearly flawless shooting the ball, finishing the night 9-for-9 from the field but missing one of his two free throws. Melsahn Basabe added 15 points and five boards in just 14 minutes off the bench for Iowa.

The Flyers received a strong effort from Kevin Dillard, who finished with 23 points, five rebounds and six assists, but only one of his teammates was able to crack double-digit scoring.

Dayton was able to keep the game close early, trailing by only three entering the break. But the Hawkeyes broke the game open with a 16-3 run in the second half and never looked back. The game wasn’t as close as the final score might suggest, as Dayton scored the final six points off back-to-back three-pointers from Josh Parker and Mitch Asmus in the final 42 seconds.
