NIT Tournament 2012, Stanford Vs. Illinois State: Cardinal Overcome Redbirds In Overtime, 92-88

Stanford needed someone to step up to overcome Illinois State's dead-eye shooting in the 2012 NIT Tournament. The Cardinal got that sort of performance from Aaron Bright in a 92-88 overtime victory.

Bright poured in 29 points for Stanford to lead all scorers, and made six of his seven threes, going 11-for-13 from the field overall. Bright also passed out six assists, helping pick up Stanford on a night when only Dwight Powell (18 points, nine rebounds) and Chasson Randle (19 points) joined him in double figures.

The Cardinal still needed overtime to overcome the Redbirds because Illinois State all but literally shot the lights out at Maples Pavilion. Tyler Brown made all five of his threes en route to 23 points, and Nic Moore sank 5-of-9 from deep as part of a 25-point night. But Brown, Moore, and Jackie Carmichael, who had 21 points and 12 rebounds, were Illinois State's only players in double figures.

Stanford moves on to the NIT quarterfinals, where it will face Nevada on Wednesday.
