The Baylor Bears have likely already locked up an NCAA Tournament appearance, but their opponent in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Big 12 Tournament probably isn't feeling quite as secure. A win on Thursday, though, would likely allow the Kansas State Wildcats to make plans for the Big Dance.
Big 12 Basketball Tournament, Baylor Vs. Kansas State: Game Time, TV Schedule And More
Baylor is currently a four seed in SB Nation’s latest bracketology post, but the Wildcats are currently sitting as an eight seed -- a spot reserved for the bubble teams, if recent history is any indication. Both teams will have a shot at playing themselves into a better position when their game tips off at 12:30 p.m. ET Thursday on ESPN.
The two teams split the regular season series, but Kansas State's win on Feb. 18 that knocked the Bears out of the Top 10 likely looms a bit heavier considering it took place just a few weeks ago. In that game, Angel Rodriguez and Rodney McGruder each scored 15 points while the Wildcats held Perry Jones III to just four points on the other end of the court.
The Bears last two losses of the season came to unranked teams, but they still entered the Big 12 tournament with the No. 11 ranking in the Top 25. Pierre Jackson, Quincy Acy, Quincy Miller and Jones III all averaged at least 10 points per game this season while Acy was also a force on the other end with two blocks per game.
The winner of Thursday afternoon’s contest will play the winner of the Kansas-Texas A&M game on Friday evening in the Big 12 tournament semifinals.
