The No. 5 Missouri Tigers took it to the Oklahoma St. Cowboys early and often in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament, winning 88-70. The Tigers advanced to face the winner of the Iowa State-Texas game, which began shortly after the conclusion of this contest — one that was never really was close.
Big 12 Tournament Bracket Update: Missouri Cruises To Big Win Over Oklahoma State
The Tigers proved once again they're one of the best teams in the country, and they're led by a three-headed monster of Kim English, Marcus Denmon and Phil Pressey. They were all on full display against the Cowboys, especially Pressey's speed and passing. Pressey had eight assists at the half and 11 assists just a few minutes after the second half began, and he finished with 12 dimes and five steals to go with four points. English and Denmon were the scoring forces they have been all season, scoring 27 and 24 respectively.
The Cowboys deserve credit for not rolling over when this game got out of reach. Missouri's harassing style of play rapidly exhausts its opponents, but even though the Cowboys were down by almost 30 in the second half, they brought it back to less than 20 soon after and kept it around there for the rest of the game. They were led by Keiton Page, who scored 22, and freshman Brian Williams, who scored 21 and grabbed eight rebounds, shooting 8-10 from the field.
