Shabazz Muhammad Commits To UCLA During National Signing Day Special On ESPNU

Shabazz Muhammad had three of the nation’s most storied college basketball programs on his final list of schools. But the scorer extraordinaire is heading to Westwood to give Ben Howland a fantastic recruiting class. Muhammad committed to UCLA during a National Signing Day special on ESPNU, saying “I chose to be a Bruin” and confirming an earlier report that he was Los Angeles-bound.

Muhammad, Rivals' No. 1 Class of 2012 player, will team with Kyle Anderson, the recruiting service's No. 2 prospect, to form a talented tandem the likes of which hasn't been seen in the Bruin blue and gold since Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook were both enrolled. Those two players and Jordan Adams give UCLA one of the nation's best recruiting classes.

Muhammad chose UCLA over Kentucky and Duke, and had previously eliminated UNLV and Kansas.

Muhammad, a tireless worker who stands 6’6” and weighs 220 pounds, has exceptional slashing and shooting ability, and set the new record for points in a Nike Hoop Summit with a tremendous performance last weekend. SB Nation’s Ben Golliver attended the Hoop Summit, and called Muhammad one of the top five NBA prospects in attendance.
