With Memphis headed to the Big East in the fall of 2013, Conference USA announced Monday that it will be moving its basketball tournaments for the 2012-13 season to Tulsa.
Conference USA Moves 2013 Basketball Tournaments From Memphis To Tulsa
With Memphis preparing to bolt for the Big East, Conference USA officials have elected to move this season’s conference tournaments away from the Birthplace of Rock ‘N Roll and back to Tulsa.

The men’s tournament will be played entirely at the BOK Center, while the women’s tournament will play its first round and quarterfinals at the Tulsa Convention Center Arena before moving to the BOK Center. Both tournaments will take place between March 13-16.
“The Board determined that a rotational hosting model would be best moving forward in the conference,” C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky said in a release. “The University of Tulsa and the state-of-the-art BOK Center were excellent hosts in 2010, which was the first time we had hosted both championships in the same city. We know the Tulsa community will show the same great support and welcome our other teams and fans.”
Tulsa previously hosted both the men’s and women’s tournaments in 2010, but the events were moved back to Memphis after league officials were disappointed with the attendance figures.
That 2010 C-USA tournament was the only one of the past seven that wasn't won by the Memphis Tigers.
