In the wake of last season’s ugly in-game brawl, the presidents of both Xavier and Cincinnati announced Thursday that the annual men’s basketball game between the two schools will now be known as the “Crosstown Classic” instead of the “Crosstown Shootout.” The “Skyline Chili Crosstown Classic,” to be more specific.

The change is one of many for the series, which both sides believed was in need of an offseason makeover.
Instead of being played at campus sites, for the next two seasons the game will be played at the U.S. Bank Arena in downtown Cincinnati. A portion of the ticket sales from the event will now benefit the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
The schools will re-evaluate the status of the series after the next two seasons.
