The Unites States blew out host Brazil 81-56 on Wednesday to secure its second consecutive gold medal in the FIBA Americas U18 Championships.
USA U18 Team Beats Brazil To Claim Gold Medal
The USA U18 national team easily defeated Brazil to claim the gold medal at the FIBA Americas Championships.


The Americans were led in scoring and rebounding by Julius Randle, who finished with 18 points and 12 boards. The 6’8, 215-pound Randle will be a senior at Plano (TX) Prestonwood Christian in the fall, and is ranked as the No. 2 player in the class of 2013 by Scout.com.
The U.S. never trailed in the game, and forced the Brazilians into 26 turnovers, six coming on steals from Oklahoma State-bound Marcus Smart. Brazil also lost to the United States by 19 during pool play.
Tennessee rising sophomore Jarnell Stokes was the United State's second-leading scorer with 11 points, while Smart added 10.
Coached by Florida’s Billy Donovan, the United States won its five tournament games by an average 38.6 points. No team came closer to beating the Americans than Brazil did in its 83-64 pool play defeat.
