Xavier transfer Dezmine Wells could announce his new school as early as this week, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. Rothstein claims that Louisville, Memphis and Texas are the most likely destinations for the former Musketeer star.

On Aug. 21, Xavier announced that Wells had been expelled from the univesity due to “a serious violation of the Code of Student Conduct.” Later that day, word leaked that the expulsion was related to allegations of sexual assault.

On Tuesday, Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters announced through a release that no criminal charges would be filed against Wells.

“We always take allegations of this nature very seriously. I assigned senior assistant prosecutors to this case to review all of the evidence and to conduct a complete presentation to the Hamilton County Grand Jury.

“After this office conducted an independent review of all of the evidence, it was presented to a Grand Jury yesterday. The Grand Jury declined to charge Dezmine Wells with any criminal offense.”

A member of the 2012 Atlantic-10 All-Rookie Team, Wells averaged 9.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game during his freshman season at Xavier. The 6-foot-5 guard would have been the Musketeers’ leading returning scorer and the likely focal point of Chris Mack’s offense.
