UNC basketball coach Roy Williams underwent surgery on Wednesday morning to have a tumor removed from his right kidney, according to WRAL News. He will undergo a second procedure in October.

The storied basketball coach from UNC has surgery for a tumor on his right kidney.
More information on the nature of the surgery or Williams’ condition is unavailable at this time. It is suspected that we will learn more on Wednesday afternoon.
Since 2007, Williams has dealt with symptoms of vertigo, which is an inner ear condition. He has not had to miss any games because of this ailment.
Roy Williams has been with the UNC men’s basketball team since 2003, after coaching for 15 seasons at the University of Kansas. Since coming to North Carolina, Williams and the Tar Heels have won two NCAA National Championships (2005, 2009), made it to four Final Fours, and captured six ACC regular-season titles.
