With just over three minutes left, No. 5 Nebraska needed a big play in order to stay in the game. Eric Hagg and the special teams unit gave it to them.
Nebraska Vs. Texas, Live: Eric Hagg Returns Pooch Punt For 95 Yards To Keep Nebraska Alive
Ahead 20-6, Texas elected to punt while on Nebraska’s side of the field. Justin Tucker booted a nice-looking pooch punt, but Hagg collected the ball, reverse field, and shot 95 yards down the field for the touchdown. Some of the credit goes to the Huskers’ special teams, which delivered a number of key blocks.
This was the longest punt return in Nebraska history, and all of a sudden, the Huskers trail by only seven.
Nebraska followed up, though, with an unsuccessful onside kick attempt. With three minutes remaining, such a call could be questioned. Regardless, Texas now holds the ball in Nebraska territory, up 20-13.
