Send A Get Well Message To Eric LeGrand After His Horrific Injury
↵Football is a violent game, but in general, the carnage is confined to broken bones and torn ligaments--the sort of things that people can recover from. Occasionally, though, there’s that worst case scenario, and a football game changes someone’s life. Not just their career, but the whole rest of their life.
↵
And while it's too early to tell whether that's the case with Eric LeGrand of Rutgers, it's never a good sign to hear the words "spinal cord" and "paralysis" when talking about an injury. He was carted off the field during Saturday's game with Army, and the long-term prognosis for recovery remains a mystery. For now, "Eric's spirits were as good as you can expect," said Rutgers coach Greg Schiano. "He's a fighter."
↵Nobody deserves football’s worst-case scenario, least of all someone as beloved as LeGrand:
↵↵“Eric is a big, strong, nice guy, who when he hits the field, always comes to the facility with great energy. A guy who really loves to play the game. I think a lot of people like [the game] a lot. This kid loves it. He’s a great teammate.”
↵↵While we all keep our fingers crossed, if you’ve got a second today, send a note of encouragement to LeGrand here.
