BCS Standings: Time For Oregon To Cheer The Tigers

Oregon’s 60-13 obliteration of UCLA was an impressive performance even by Duck standards, and leaves little doubt they’ve earned their lofty perch in the BCS standings. SB Nation’s Addicted To Quack swells with avian pride:

Oregon came into Thursday night’s showdown with UCLA with a lot of questions. How would this team deal with the pressure of being #1? Could the defense step up and play a complete game? Was Darron Thomas’ shoulder completely healthy after the Washington State game?
Sixty points and a systematic obliteration of UCLA later, the Ducks can answer those questions with an affirmative. With all the pressure of the #1 national ranking and the solitary national stage of Thursday night, the Ducks were as collected as could be. The 47 point margin of victory was the biggest in the history of the series.
So all that’s lovely. But how can the Ducks leverage this into a BCS No. 1 ranking that so many think they deserved to begin with?

For now, all they can do is stomp their feet, slaughter a few goats, and cheer as lustily as they are able for Missouri. The Tigers host BCS No. 1 Oklahoma this Saturday night in Columbia, with GameDay in attendance and the whole country watching. A less-than-stellar performance by the Sooners could be just what the quack doctor ordered.
