Who stands to fall the most in the 2010 BCS standings if today’s battles go ill? About who you’d think, actually:
BCS Standings: Week 8 Teams With The Most To Lose
No. 1 Oklahoma: Already a minority choice for the top slot, and facing unbeaten No. 11 Missouri on the road. With GameDay in town, a Sooners loss here would be the highest-profile plummet of the week.
No. 5 TCU: The Horned Frogs are hosting their toughest competition (the recently de-ranked Air Force) since their season opener with Oregon State, and as a mid-major program, would take a heftier hit with voters in the event of a loss.
No. 8 Alabama: The highest-ranked one-loss team is still hanging around in the top ten thanks in large part to their pedigree. 2-4 Tennessee has less than zero chance of pulling off the upset, but they nearly managed it last year against a stronger Tide.
No. 10 Ohio State: The Buckeyes already have one loss, and there’s a scrum of Big ten teams in the same position. A stumble against 4-2 Purdue would likely put paid to their Rose Bowl aspirations for good.
No. 16 Nebraska: The last thing the Huskers need is another high-profile loss, not after last week’s debacle with Texas. Unfortunately for them, their date this weekend is undefeated No. 14 Oklahoma State.
